Turnov was originally one of colonisation-towns in the Bohemian Paradise, first records date from the year 1272.
The Czech family of Markvartic ruled over the former German settlers but later the town acquired a Czech character although the public authorities followed German practice.
Then Albrecht of Wallenstein ruled over the whole town.
The town has a longstanding cultural tradition and became well-known especially for stone cutting and the production of immitation stones.
I wish you a wonderful trip!
