Hruby Rohozec Chateau

Rohozec was founded by the Markvartic family in the late 13th century.
At the end of the 15th century the castle was owned by Johanka of Krajek and her brother Konrád. In those days the castle was rebuilt into a late Gothic chateau. About 1600 the family of Vartenberk held the chateau and had it rebuilt again, this time in the Renaissance style. Its present appearance dates from 1822.
After the White Mountain Battle the estate was confiscated and the Desfours family owned the chateau until 1945. At present, it serves as exhibition grounds of the Museum of Applied Arts, displaying a collection of historical furniture and fashion.

I wish you a wonderful trip!
