Jicin Town
- Founded: before 1293
- GPS: 50° 26′ 13″ s. š., 15° 21′ 6″ v. d.
The first records date from the year 1293 - the town must have been founded sometime shortly before this year.
The town of Jičín was owned by the Vartenberks, the Trček family of Lípa, The Smiřický family and by various other noble families but it has always been associated mainly with the name of Albrecht of Wallenstein. When Albrecht of Wallenstein became the owner of the town, Jičín was an ordinary small provincial town with a delapidating castle damaged by an eplosion in 1620. But when he died in Cheb he left behind a residential town in the duchy of Frýdlant which had been designed by Italian architects in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape.
I wish you a wonderful trip!
